What a TSCM inspection costs
No fake calculator, no fear-led upsell. Here is what actually drives the price of a professional inspection, and the ranges the market genuinely charges.
What drives the price
- Scope — the number of rooms and their size. A single boardroom and an executive floor are different jobs.
- Technology density — conferencing systems, AV, IoT, and telephony all add inspection time. A small, dense boardroom can take longer than a large, empty warehouse.
- Depth — a pre-meeting verification differs from a full baseline inspection with non-linear junction detection of every wall and fitting.
- Scheduling — out-of-hours and short-notice work is standard in this field but affects cost.
- Cadence — recurring programmes cost less per visit than first inspections of an unknown site. The when to inspect guide explains how a cadence is set.
Honest market ranges
In the UK market, professional corporate work typically starts in the high hundreds of pounds for a tightly-scoped single-room engagement and runs to several thousand for an executive zone or multi-room inspection; residential inspections commonly fall in between, and US corporate pricing is often quoted per square foot (roughly $1.50–$5.00). Treat any quote far below these ranges with suspicion: laboratory-grade equipment and trained operators have a real cost, and a sweep that misses a device is worse than no sweep at all — it manufactures false confidence.
We provide indicative pricing up front, once we understand your site — before you commit. Scope is agreed in writing, and the engagement follows the documented five-stage process.
Frequently asked questions
Why won't anyone publish a fixed price?
Because the honest price depends on scope: the rooms, the technology density, the depth of physical search, and scheduling. Any firm quoting a fixed price before understanding your site is either padding the number or planning a shallow job.
Is a cheap sweep worth having?
Usually not. A consumer RF detector pass over a room misses wired microphones, dormant devices, and network attacks entirely. If the result would not stand up in front of your board or your solicitor, it is not worth paying for.
Does a recurring programme cost less per visit?
Yes. Repeat visits to a known site are faster to deliver and are priced accordingly. Most clients on a quarterly cadence pay meaningfully less per inspection than for a first visit.
Do you charge for the initial scoping conversation?
No. Scoping is free and confidential, and you receive indicative pricing before committing to anything.
